David McGlashan

David McGlashan was awarded recognition of his hard work, when he was named Scottish Solicitor of the year in 2005, with the judging panel remarking that David "treats clients with the respect they deserve." 7 years later, when launching the firm of McGlashan MacKay Solicitors, that respect for the client remained central to David's vision.
Clients continue to remark that David's respect for them, and understanding of their problems in both the human and the legal sense, is an important part of the service he provides, to clients in Glasgow, around Scotland and beyond.
David is a specialist court practitioner, and has built up an enviable knowledge of the intricacies of the Immigration system in the UK, for business and individuals.

Euan trained in the Immigration and asylum field, and has many years experience as an Immigration Lawyer, but every solution for a client gives him the same feeling of achievement as the very first. He likes to apply lateral thinking to client problems to ensure that no potential solution is ignored, and will strive to put forward the client's position. He aims to provide a legal answer to very human problems.
Euan has appeared in a number of high profile cases and is committed to the development of the law in the fields of justice, human rights and asylum.

“Francesca joined McGlashan MacKay as a student in 2017, whilst completing her LLB at the University of Stirling. Having graduated in 2018, she then moved to Strasbourg where she worked as an intern at the office of the Special Representative on Migration and Refugees at the Council of Europe. She started her traineeship at McGlashan MacKay in June 2019, having completed her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. Her main interest lies in asylum law, however she is developing her knowledge of immigration law, focusing on family reunion cases, both inside and outside the Immigration Rules

Denize Okan
Denize completed the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow before joining the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 2019. She has a keen interest in asylum work and deportation matters. She regularly appears at the Immigration and Asylum Tribunal in relation to these matters.
Prior to her traineeship, Denize gained experience in a variety of settings including the Domestic Abuse Courts and the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry. With a true interest in access to justice, she strives to ensure that all clients are provided with the necessary support at every stage of their legal proceedings

Lisa McGuigan
Lisa graduated with a joint honours in LLB Law and Spanish in 2012 and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2014 both from the University of Strathclyde. She commenced her traineeship in 2015 specialising in Criminal Defence and Family Law, she remained at that firm for 5 years, representing clients in the Sheriff Court and instructing Counsel in High Court cases.
Lisa has a keen interest in Human Rights Law and spent a summer working at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg after graduating from University.
Lisa moved to McGlashan MacKay in September 2020, and she has particularly enjoyed assisting clients
with Asylum applications and Article 8 applications based on Family Life.
ASSISTANTS

Alexander Heeps
Trainee Solicitor
Alexander completed his Traineeship at McGlashan Mackay Solicitors in November 2020 and is now a Qualified Solicitor at the Firm. During his traineeship, Alexander was exposed to the breadth of immigration and asylum work and has continued to build upon this as a Qualified Solicitor.
Prior to joining McGlashan Mackay Solicitors, Alexander completed his LLB and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde and obtained a Masters in European Law at the University of Maastricht.
Alexander has represented asylum seekers in terms of their applications to the Home Office and in presenting appeals before the First-tier Tribunal. In addition to experience in the area of asylum, Alexander has also advised on entry clearance applications for spouses and unmarried partners, as well as complex Article 8 ECHR claims involving children and parents.
Alexander also has experience dealing with social security related matters and welcomes cases involving these issues, insofar as they are linked to immigration matters in the United Kingdom.
Alexander is also a Notary Public.

Andrew Fyffe
Andrew graduated with a first-class honours degree in law from the University of Stirling in 2018, receiving the award for the most distinguished LLB graduate. In 2019, he completed the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow. Andrew joined McGlashan MacKay Solicitors in 2018 and completed his traineeship earlier this year.
Andrew has a particular interest in representing clients from Latin America, as well as those facing deportation issues.

Abby Bowes
Abby has worked with the Firm for sometime, having joined while still an undergraduate, giving her experience assisting as a paralegal and learning about legal aid. Abby graduated with an Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Law from the University of Glasgow in 2020 and went on to complete the Diploma in Legal Practice, with Merit, at the University of Glasgow the following year.
With a keen interest in human rights, Abby is developing her knowledge of the immigration rules and the asylum process. Abby has a particular interest in LGBTQ+ and domestic abuse asylum cases.
